As of today (May 8), Brian Joyce will be serving as vice president and general manager of KMGH, the ABC affiliate for Scripps in Denver.
Joyce has been the vice president and general manager of KPAX since January 2021. KPAX is the CBS affiliate for Scripps in Missoula, Montana. Before that, he was the director of sales at both KMGH and KGUN in Tucson, Arizona (both of which are owned by Scripps).
He’s been a sports anchor, newscaster, and programmer for about 25 years.
“Brian is a newsroom leader with the proven ability to drive meaningful results for station audiences and advertisers while also developing a team culture of empathy and inclusion,” said Senior VP of Local Media Dean Littleton.
I am confident in his ability to manage the Denver7 teams because of his familiarity with the local community gained via his on-air and sales positions there. The dedication Scripps has shown to his professional advancement across multiple stations is emblematic of the company’s culture.
Joyce encouraged all KPAX personnel to serve Montana viewers and advertisers.
Joyce said, “I’m proud of the work our team at KPAX has accomplished over the last two years, and I know they’ll continue to serve the Western Montana communities well.” When I get back to KMGH, I’m excited to learn from the Denver7 crew about innovative approaches to providing news and information to our viewers.
Joyce attended Oklahoma State University for his undergraduate studies and received executive leadership training from The Wharton School of Business.
He played a pivotal role in establishing Scripps’ collaboration with the Big Sky Conference during his time in Missoula, making it possible for Montana and Montana State football to be televised statewide. Joyce also contributes her time and expertise to the Montana Broadcasters Association.
Joyce has been promoted to the position of senior vice president of Local Media, taking over for Littleton, who was hired by Scripps earlier this month.
